Village of Pellston

The Village of Pellston was founded in 1895 and quickly expanded with the arrival of the railroad. Pellston became the metropolitan center of a great logging empire that stretched from Cincinnati to the Upper Peninsula. Poor forest management eventually caused the logging to fail, and most of the town was destroyed when fires consumed the logging mills in the 1930s.

Today Pellston is a beautifully quaint town nestled in the Maple River valley, hosts the regional school, airport, and fire station and offers numerous conveniences for travelers and locals, including a general store, dollar stores, a hardware store, post office, library, senior center, medical offices, bank (remote office), village hall, recreation areas, parks, and trails. Downtown Pellston is known for it’s vibrant antiques district and hosts the famous Antiques Art & Collectibles store.

Pellston is organized as village in Emmet County in Michigan, USA. The population was 822 in 2010 and Pellston is known as one of the fastest growing communities in Northern Michigan.

Turkey’s Pizza Restaurant

Built over 120 years ago in 1881-1882, Turkey’s is housed in one of the oldest remaining buildings in Harbor Springs. Lumber from the area’s great white pines, milled at one of three local lumber mills, was used in its construction. Originally, there were floor to ceiling windows along the east wall and its neighbor to the east was the local fire station. In the 1920s it was the print shop then later became a clothing store. After switching owners in a card game, in 1972 it became a bakery and coffee shop. Now Turkey’s offers the finest hand thrown pizza’s in upper lower Northern Michigan.

The first pizza ever made in Harbor Springs was made here in these ovens. This restaurant-cafe-pizzeria-ice cream parlor is a popular spot for locals, resorters and visitors. With beer, wine and a complete bar, Turkey’s is a full-service restaurant featuring pizza’s, sandwiches, and plenty of smiles.

Don’t miss the annual Cinco de Mayo party on May 5th, and all year Turkey’s is open right along downtown for a great stop when shopping, boating or visiting the numerous festivals hosted by the village all year.

Stafford’s Pier Restaurant

The Historic Stafford’s Pier Restaurant, affectionately called “The Pier” by locals for generations, is nestled along the docks and parks that line the shore of Harbor Springs.

The food is fabulous, whether appetizers on “Dudley’s Deck” overlooking the harbor fleet and beautifully restored “Pointer” touring boat, or a fine planked Whitefish, Perch or other specialty meal in the dining room. The menu offers both fine dining and more casual meals for weary sailers and travelers.

A local treasure, The Pier in Harbor Springs earned it’s reputation by being a five star formal dining restaurant with teams of servers in tuxedo’s through the 1990’s, when “shooters” from The Point would come in and lay down a few thousand dollars to buy the room a pleasure, and the chef’s presented fabulous flaming entree’s with fabulous wines, enjoyed by visitors and summer resident’s alike. At night the bar comes alive with revelers.

Recently remodeled, Stafford’s Pier Restaurant now offers a boat-house atmosphere with the walls lined with restored wooden boats, and a casual dining experience should you choose, with lovely views of the water and still fabulous delicacies.

The Mackinaw Club

The Cheboygan Golf & Country Club

“Since opening in 1922, the Cheboygan Golf & Country Club has built a reputation for offering quality playing conditions to golfers in northern Michigan. The 18 holes of “Championship Golf” is open to the public, and offers the golfer a variety of holes to play. The front nine has a “Scottish” style with rolling mounds and a few trees to contend with, while the back nine features a picturesque northern woodlands design. The entire golf course is enjoyable to play because it is not overly long and easy to walk. However, the smaller, smooth greens will put an emphasis on your short game making it challenging enough for the most experienced of golfers.”

Little Traverse Bay Golf Course and Restaurant

“Nestled above the bay for which it is named, Little Traverse Bay Golf Course and Restaurant exemplifies Harbor Springs at its best. This unique public golf club provides superior golf and dining in a peaceful and harmonious setting. Since its first full season in 1992, Little Traverse Bay has retained its status as a “favorite” among residents and visitors alike. The golf course provides breathtaking water views from twelve of the eighteen holes. Four different tee complexes and ingenious routing through hilly terrain allow all levels of golfers to enjoy (not merely endure) a challenging day on the golf course. As beautiful as the course may be, it cannot upstage the attractiveness of the dining room and patio. Situated at the heart of the golf course, the restaurant offers magnificent views of the sometimes tranquil, sometimes ominous Little Traverse Bay. The restaurant is open to the public for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, throughout the summer.”
